Virtual production works best when creative and technical choices are made early. Planet X STORM works with filmmakers to determine where real-time workflows can add value, from visual development and previs to environment creation, LED stage workflows and post-production.

We develop real-time content and virtual environments as part of one visual direction. Where useful, assets and creative decisions can continue from pre-production to the shoot, VFX, color and finishing. This creates continuity between departments while leaving room to adapt the workflow to what the project needs.

Our team combines filmmaking experience with VFX, real-time and post-production expertise. We work alongside directors, cinematographers, production designers and producers to turn ideas into a practical approach for the shoot and carry the intended visual world through the relevant stages of the project.

Through ReadySet Studios, productions have access to a dedicated virtual production stage with a large-scale LED setup. PXS develops the content and workflows needed to make effective use of that environment.

Fictional worlds, tailor-made to fit the narrative, demand streamlined communication with the creative leads. Unlike traditional post-production, where some decisions can be deferred, virtual productions need assets and environments ready before the first day of shooting.

Bringing existing, physical locations as virtual assets into the studio (by means of photo scanning or other capturing techniques) can offer control over every aspect of the shoot without the logistical headaches of real-world locations, while ensuring consistent conditions.

Planet X STORM co-founded ReadySet Studios in 2022. Its permanent virtual production stage gives our team direct access to a large-scale LED setup for development, testing, rehearsals and shoots.

Content and workflows can be tested under real production conditions before the shoot. This helps us identify technical limitations early, refine the setup and understand how the content works with the camera, lighting, tracking and playback systems.

The stage also supports the continued development of our real-time knowledge and workflows, with lessons from testing and production feeding back into future projects.
